We love walking our Melville streets. Enjoying an evening stroll with our family, dogs and babies. After a good cup of coffee, a hearty dinner or a fabulous party we tend to enjoy evening walks with the constant undulating topography and the surprise of the vistas peering its head over the horizon. When dusk hits our streets are dark. A lack of lighting infrastructure, light bulbs which we are blown. The streets can feel dark and dodgy.
Melville Shine is a street lighting project in collaboration with the City of Johannesburg and sponsored by the Melville Security Initiative. The project looks at replacing the COJ existing lighting heads with newer LED technology lighting heads. This will help to increase the visualization distance, making it easier to see down the street and better clarity at night.
